The last week of April 2011 was the 2nd deadliest for tornado deaths in U.S. history
according to Fox News (the deadliest was in 1925). Several towns were destroyed. Some were completely wiped out. Here's a tornado map a friend sent me. He got it from the U.S. Weather Service. It pretty much tells the story. As far as I can tell from the reports there were 211 tornadoes. This is the most ever reported. At least one of them was an F-5. Over 1,700 people were injured. More than 340 died. I added the numbers in red to show the death toll by state. (scroll past the map below for more links) |
