Dixie Alley

I've said for years that Alabama and the southern states know tornadoes better than the
"Tornado Alley" states.  Finally, this video clip confirms it.

In 2006 when Alabama's population was only about 4-1/2 million, we lost more than half as many to tornadoes as did Texas with over 25 million people.  To equal Alabama's per capita losses, 3 times as many would have died in Texas.

Modern technology reveals the reason.  Here, a Devastating F4 cut a path through
Tuscaloosa so wide in 2011 that it could be seen from space.

2011 was an especially bad year.  On April 27th, Mississippi and Tennesee got hit with
34 tornadoe's each.  How many hit Alabama?  TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY FOUR!
